Must Our Faith Be Exhumed?
Behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here but has risen.”
Luke 24: 4 – 6 (ESV)
How often have we also sought the living Jesus among the dead, expecting answers and spiritual guidance while wandering in a darkened empty tomb? Must we remind ourselves that in this volatile biblical era, we live on a dead and decaying world, inhabited by the lost and spiritually destitute? How often have I buried my faith and my trust in God below a burgeoning weight of worldly cares, crippling fear, or fruitless endeavors, thus entombing God’s capacity to spiritually elevate, enlightenment, and guide me?
Praise the Lord his Kingdom is flourishing within and around us. It invisibly envelops us with his priceless love, joy, and peace. In it there is abundant light to clearly illuminate the path ahead. It’s focus and power can penetrate even the deepest darkest tombs of our mind and heart.
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Psalm 119: 105 (ESV)
Jesus has risen forever from the tomb. He has called us to a life more abundant. Let us allow him to exhume our faith from the deep dark chasm of earthly concerns and let it pass into the freedom of his Kingdom. And as we stay faithfully focused on Christ Jesus and the ministry of the Holy Spirit within our receptive hearts, we will pass forever from darkness into light, thus ensuring that our faith will never again be entombed in a darkening world.
My Dear Heavenly Father, Let no darkness overtake us or heaviness overcome us in our earthly walk. For we know that with you at our side to guide us there can be no darkness on the path leading ahead. Amen.
