Fail Forward
Good Day To You,
If you try a new sport, start a new job, step into a new assignment, or even a new relationship, you are going to make mistakes. If you attempt anything in life, at some point you will fail. Failure is inevitable. It’s not if it will happen, it’s just when. When we fail, our brain tells us that we are less than, a loser, and it sends messages of doom and of personal defeat to your soul. So it would be smart to have a process or plan in place to deal with failure. Failure is a not a verdict of defeat. It is not your identity, not who you are. It is just part of being human. What allows failure to produce a dead end or a victim mode is if you let your pride or ego get into the mix. Humility learns from failure.
No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. Phil. 3:13
When failure happens, focus on this one thing: forgetting the past mistake, shortcoming, misstep, and look up and look forward. The enemy of your soul will remind you of your past failures, but Jesus encourages you with your future. Your past is good for just one thing: to gain from the experiences so that those mistakes will not be repeated. Gain the wisdom and move forward. I can’t change the past, but I don’t have to let it drag me down and beat me up. Humility accepts the failure, but does not let it define our future. Your future is in Christ, and he has a design for you that will show off his life and amazing grace. What lies ahead for you is being made into his wonderful likeness, more and more like Jesus - wise, gracious, generous, strong, kind, capable, compassionate, contagious and secure. You will fail in this life, but choose to fail forward.
