Jellyfish People

Mar 30, 2025

You know what I find interesting? Science says that jellyfish have survived for 650 million years despite not having brains. This gives hope to many people. Having brains is a great benefit when we make use of our grey matter and obey the ways of our Maker. One of the things that gives hope to me, and should as well to you, is the kind of people that get God’s attention and favor. It’s not what is promoted and elevated by our culture, for it is neither the rich and powerful or the dynamic and gifted, nor the socially connected or beautiful ones. The following attributes and values capture the notice of our Father above, and I call them the 3 H’s. They describe people who are Humble, Honest and Hungry. These attitudes of heart can be found in anyone, anywhere, no matter their place or position, their bank account or address. Just look at the promises in God’s word found about these truths.

Humble

Proverbs 22:4 "The reward for humility is wealth, honor, and life.”

Honesty

Proverbs 12:22 "The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.”

Hunger

Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him, for he who comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him."

When you start with these 3 H’s, you often receive other collateral benefits.

We glean from these insights above that a fourth H, the Holy Spirit, will bring significant rewards, will delight in us and reward us again in various ways if we intentionally develop humility, honestly and hunger. It doesn’t take a lot of brains to figure that out. You and I will live in greater freedom and joy if these attributes are in residence within our heart and mind. Now that’s good thinking, Jellyfish!
