Lamb or Ram
During the time of the Exodus with Moses and Pharaoh, God’s people were instructed to take a young lamb, one year or younger and to place the blood of that lamb on the doorposts of their home. (Exodus 12:7)
The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29
John the Baptist connected the dots in the minds of his audience with the blood of the lamb past and with the Messiah present as he points out that Jesus is the Lamb of God who will deal with the sin of the world by means of his own life and blood.
Have you ever wondered why God uses the example of a young lamb? Think of how the lamb is innocent, playful, vulnerable, an endearing animal. There’s a reason he chose a lamb. If Jesus is the Lamb of God, then this is representative of God’s heart. For if we are to enjoy his presence, we must come to him in like spirit. Lamb to Lamb, not as a ram. A ram is stiff-necked, stubborn, headstrong and mean. As we step into this new year, let’s find a sensitivity and humility in our spirit to benefit from being of the same attitude and proximity as Christ. For he is wanting to speak into, encourage and inspire your days with deposits of grace. Therefore you will need to be like a lamb to receive these gifts. Lamb to Lamb we journey.
