Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Matt: 4:4

”An Apple a day keeps the doctor away” - this common saying has been around for a long time. Apples contain a powerful flavonoid called khellin which may open up airways when you have an infection. They are also high in fiber, which can help reduce inflammation in the body. In a study in which people ate an apple a day, results showed that participants used fewer prescription medications, so the doctors encouragement to digest one a day is still good healthy advice. Just like an having an apple a day, it would be wise and healthy for each of us to get some “soul food” into our mind and thoughts through enjoying a time of daily devotions with Jesus. We need a one-a-day portion of vitamins downloaded into our soul through chewing on the Word of God, asking the Holy Spirit, “what do you want to say to me personally through this scripture today?” It only takes an apple-size portion of time each day to find greater emotional and spiritual health this year. So why don’t you start this year off right and read for a few minutes each day and allow the Holy Spirit to infuse into your soul his life and perspective. This practice will fortify your spiritual immune system and guard against various attacks on your mind and heart. In this present time and season you need food for your soul and spirit - you can’t really live - thrive - enjoy his grace and gifts if you are just living on natural bread alone.
