Good Thinking

Good day to you,

Good and evil both increase at compound interest. That is why the little decisions you and I make every day are of such infinite importance." - C.S. Lewis

Lewis stats it so well, that each one of our choices is so critical because either the good or evil decisions will release compounding consequences. So how does one make good, wise decisions? How can you be confident that your choices will bring about beneficial interest?

Fear of the LORD is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment. Prov. 9:10

We looked last week at this concept that a firm foundation in life is having a keen establishment of the fear of the Lord. This fear is not an anxiety or walking on eggshells. It’s a deep reverence and humility knowing that God is the one who keeps the books and we all answer to Him. You build this strong foundation of the fear of the Lord with knowledge of the one and only Holy Trinity. You go out and gain knowledge of who God is and the way he operates and moves. Let me give you four primary ways in which you can increase your knowledge of God. Digest his Word. Have a personal devotion time, and let the Bible study you. Do more than read the scripture, allow the insight and concept from Gods word to soak into your soul and mind.  Be engaged in a local Church and apply the insights from the message or teaching. Watch those around you. Look around the body of Christ, and see how to do life and how not to do it. Go ask questions of those that you find doing life well and having the fruit of the spirit in their life, marriage, family and labor. Finally gain from the Experiences taking place in your life. Take these Father-filtered happenings and practice the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life you so to glean his insights and knowledge in your daily interactions. So as you grow in the fear of the Lord, and in the knowledge of the Holy One, you will have good judgment. This means, you will have sharp discernment, wise insights, and accurate clarity and thus make solid decisions and choices. As you go about to increasing the Fear and the Knowledge of him in your life be encouraged that you will see produced an ever increasing amount of “good thinking” and the fallout from this renewed mind is living wise and living well.

Q: What area in your life would you like to see an increase of good judgment?
