Oh Say Can You See...

Good Day To You,

On February 12, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona at Super Bowl LVII, a country singer stepped onto the platform to sing the United States' national anthem. The rendition of our nation’s colors became one of the all-time favorite, and was an instant hit. The singer known in some of the country western circles, became a household name, seemingly overnight, and burst onto the global scene with his heartfelt, authentic, emotionally moving rendition. His name is Chris Stapleton. Most of America was introduced to this newcomer that late afternoon, but that was not his first rodeo. He had been at work perfecting his craft for some time. Stapleton moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 2001 to pursue his music career and had no real recognition until 2007 with some limited success with a small bluegrass group called the SteelDrivers, (I’ve never heard of them either.)  So for over 6 years he worked in small places and kept strange hours putting in his 10,000 hours. He didn’t have any real success until his debut solo album, Traveller came out in 2015. So for 14 years he put in the time, the hard work and for the most part was unseen, unknown and unheard of.

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9

We live in an instant gratification culture. Who doesn’t want to wait over 3 minutes to get dinner at the drive through restaurant?  Doing good is walking it out day after day doing the unseen when no one takes notice or gives credit. The scripture here says that at just the right time you will reap. It’s an immutable law, for what you sow, you will reap. And it’s not if, it’s just when. You will see a crop of blessing in your experience. Chris Stapleton worked in small clubs and events with few knowing who he was for many years until he reaped the harvest years later.

In the same way don’t give up doing good. Use your gifts and abilities to honor God and share his life and love with others. Care for your family. Pray for your kids, speak well of each other, serve your spouse and love Jesus. And you will reap what you’ve sown. You will receive a blessing if you don’t give up.

Q: What artist rendition of the national anthem have you heard and enjoyed?

Q: In what area of your life would you like to reap a blessing? Then sow into that area today.
