9 Months
Good Day To You,
A few years back a comedian observed that God could have made making babies as easy as when a husband kisses his wife and Pow! A baby appears.
Why not do it that way? Seems like a lot of struggle, stress and being uncomfortable for nine months. Why is it so hard? And those last few weeks are brutal to most expecting mothers. During the long duration of pregnancy, we know that a lot is going on with development and growth but it’s unseen. To the naked eye we see some outside signs, but we don’t see the fullness or complete picture. You can be glad that we are humans and not a whale or an elephant, taking 18 months for a whale and 22 months for an elephant. Why such a long term and length of time? These time frames seem excessive.
Think with me for a minute about these animals and how they are born into fairly extreme environments, harsh surroundings. They must be able and strong enough to defend themselves, run, stay close to their mother, survive the elements, and so forth. It is also true for a human baby. The necessary development of the immune system, the digestive track and organs need to be developed enough to process and function.
“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9
At just the right time babies are born and made visible to see and interact with. But for months the work was being done in the unseen. You are doing good as you walk with Christ Jesus in humble devotion and servant hearted expressions. Don’t get tired to the place that you give up. Stay the course. You may not see the fullness of the work yet, but give it some time. You’re pregnant with a harvest that will be a blessing to you and others in due season. I don’t know if you’re in a whale season or an elephant one, but God’s promise is for a visitation at the right time. He’s working on the important small stuff. He’s getting the systems in place, the immune system humming, the people in alignment for a true harvest of blessing. Wait for it…
Q: Choose to give thanks to him today even though you don’t see it yet. What would be the item that you would spotlight?
