Journey

Good Day To You,

I enjoyed an amazing sandwich last night. Jenny and I received a fresh-baked homemade loaf of sourdough bread yesterday at church. So after our evening meeting, I came home and cut two slices of that delicious golden brown round loaf and fixed myself a grilled cheese, turkey, avocado sandwich. Sometimes there’s just nothing better than fresh-from-the-oven warm sourdough bread! Bread is critical to living. Jesus taught that we are to ask for our daily bread when teaching his disciples to pray:

”Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” Matt. 6: 9-13

We are encouraged to pray for the needs that we have to be met on a daily basis. He also continues in the very next thought that we will also need, on a daily basis, our sins to be forgiven. And we need to stay in a posture of forgiveness because it’s going to happen to us; people will sin, insult or offend us. Isn’t it interesting that of all the things Jesus could mention in teaching us to pray, and that we are to specifically do, would be forgiveness. He doesn’t say anything about the need for the giving of money or for worship attendance or honoring our elders. He mentions with clarity that you will need to ask your Father for the forgiveness of your sins and release forgiveness for those in your circle of life. “As we also”…For us to receive forgiveness from our Father we need to keep the forgiveness muscle working in our relationships and interactions. So bread is critical to life and so is forgiveness.

Q: What is your favorite type of sandwich?

Q: Is there anyone that you need to keep a posture of forgiveness to?
